2023 Sydney West Softball Championships
The Sydney West Softball Carnival was played today (29/06/2023) at International Peace Park Seven Hills.Both the boys and girls teams displayed excellent sportsmanship.The boys had a fantastic win in the first game, taking the game 14 – 2. They continued their winning streak right up until the last game when they came up against a combined Penrith/Blue Mountains side. The boys were narrowly defeated and as a result ended up as Runner’s Up for the boys. Five boys were selected into the Sydney West team to play at the State Championships in Term 3.The girls first game was against Ridges. Down 7-0 with 2 out, the girls fought back to level the game. The girls were thrilled to come away with the draw. The girls didn’t look back from there and won the rest of their matches to be named joint premiers with Ridges. Two girls were selected into the Sydney West team to play at Mayfield, Newcastle in Term 3. We were very unlucky not to have more girls named and I think this is because all the girls played as ‘a team’ and were so encouraging of each other.
