Sydney West Touch Football Championships

Thursday 6 April finally saw the commencement of the Sydney West Touch Football Championships after rescheduling. Both the Boys and the Girls teams were fierce in their defense and spectacular in their attack. I am SUPER proud to report that both teams went undefeated all day, finished 1^st in their Pools and won both of the Grand Finals in spectacular fashion!

During the pool games the boys were dynamic and played smart, fast footy! The ball was spread around the field everyone did their job to perfection! The boys played a stellar semi-final match against Blue Mountains and won 3-0. They progressed to the Grand Final where they faced the winner of the second pool, Penrith (2021 Grand Final rematch… the tension was real!). This was a tight game which was locked at 0-0 until a brilliant try was scored by Chase. The win was sealed when Max put us up 2-0. The boys played with amazing passion and skill all day and I was so proud of the phenomenal sportsmanship and top-notch defense that they all displayed. The boys gelled together and are super deserving of the title of Sydney West Zone Champions.

The girls dominated from the first game and were captivating to watch in action. They were mighty strong in defense and did not concede a try at all during the whole tournament!! Super passing and speed were on display in their convincing win in the semi-final against Ridges. In the Grand Final they were up against the winners of the second pool, Mt Druitt. This was also a 2021 Grand Final rematch. In the teaming rain and freezing conditions the girls dug deep and put on a wonderful display. Beth scored an amazing double and sealed the win 2-0!  The passion and energy on both the sideline and on the field was brilliant!

It was so wonderful to come away with both teams as Sydney West Zone Champions. Special thank you to Jai Gomez for coaching the girls and securing back-to-back wins two years in a row!! Well done Jai!
