Rugby League

Rugby League is increasing in population in our zone, with 11 schools participating in the competition this year. A modified field is used for our players, to ensure safety and maximum participation. Junior teams have 11 players on the field, whilst senior teams have 13 players on the field. Each team generally implements a rotation policy for their reserves and teams are encouraged to expose players to a variety of positions on the field.

The schools can field mixed gender teams in the junior and senior divisions (with some age/gender restrictions for seniors).  Junior teams play on a smaller field, and the senior teams play on a full size field, where both divisions play using modified rules. With safety paramount, NSW DEC Sport Safety Guidelines also states that all players must wear a mouth guard to participate in rugby league. All other safety equipment is encouraged and recommended.

The CHPSSA Zone receives support from NRL Development and the Parramatta Eels with our competition. They assist us each week at the grounds, providing refereeing support for the teachers. They also attend our zone trials and help with the selection of players for the next round of trials.
