2025 Softball Championships
BOYS
On Thursday 10 April, 12 boys represented Castle Hill PSSA at the Sydney West Softball tournament. They all played hard and really connected as a team over the day. We lost our first game to Blacktown 5-0. We hit lots of fouls and had trouble getting the ball in play. The infielders made some amazing pickups and catches. Our next game was against Hawkesbury. We won 11-1. I was proud of the leadership shown by the catchers during this game calling plays and giving encouragement. Our final pool game was against St Marys / Mt Druitt, we won 7-1. The boys gained confidence as a team during this game and made impressive outs working together and listening to calls. We game second in our pool. In the Semi final we played Blacktown again. The boys dug deep and played so hard. With some big hits and impressive baserunning we almost won. The end score was 2-1 to Blacktown. This was a huge improvement from our first game against them. By losing this game, we played a final game for 3rd or 4th against Seven Hills/ Wentworthville. Unfortunately, we lost again in a close game 5-4. We had runners in a scoring position but just could not get another safe hit before time ran out. All 12 boys should be proud of all they achieved throughout the day. You fought hard and never gave up.
Congratulations to Ellington (Castle Hill PS) who was selected for the Sydney West team.
GIRLSĀ
The girls first game was against Ridges. They were excited to play and aggressive in their base running. Castle Hill claimed their first win of the day (14-10). It was a tough second game against Hawkesbury. They had a very experienced pitcher/ catcher combo that made it difficult to steal the bases. Castle Hill lost (5-12). Back to back, challenging games. Castle Hill went up against the winners of the day. Seven Hills/ Wentworthville were fast and accurate. Castle Hill lost (1-14). Castle Hill didn’t give up and the girls came out fighting against Sydney West Convenors. Some familiar faces on the opposition team, did not psych the girls out. Castle Hill were back with spirit and determination, stealing bases and hitting the ball. Castle Hill taking the victory (7-3). The momentum was with Castle Hill, as we played our final game against Penrith/ Blue Mountains. It was the best batting and the most action, our loyal spectators had seen all day. Everyone on the team had the confidence to hit the ball and have some fun. With the final win of the day (14-2), Castle Hill secured the 3rd overall place in the competition. From a very proud coach, thank you to the girls and parents that made the 2025 Sydney West Girls softball championship a memorable day. It was incredible to see the girl’s friendship, teamwork and passion for softball grow in such a short amount of time.
