Sydney West 11’s Rugby League Championships

Last Friday (April 1) we attended the 11s SW trials. The day couldn’t have been more perfect with the rain holding off for the day and the weather not being too warm. All students who attended were on their best behaviour and families were great supporting the team.
Castle Hill played out of their skin and won all games in their draw to finish at the top of their pool. We then went on to play Blacktown in the semis to win comfortably, which set us up for the final against a dominant Penrith side who hadn’t been scored against all tournament.
Castle Hill showed that size does not matter in rugby league and their defence was as tough as I have seen in my years coaching. We won the game in a tight contest, winning 6-0.
I am super proud of the whole team for their efforts and they deserved the win. Special mention to Max Hayne (Crestwood) and Violet Vella (Beaumont Hills) who were voted by Hills Sports HS Representative as best male and female player of the day.
Congratulations to the following boys who made the extended squad for the SW team.
  • Max (Crestwood)
  • Ethan (Northmead)
  • Aisake (Northmead)
  • Cooper (Winston Hills)
