2024 Sydney West Basketball Championships

On Tuesday 26^th March,  the Castle Hill boys and girls zone basketball teams played at the Sydney West Championships.

The boys played brilliantly together on the day and should be incredibly proud of their efforts. We started off the day with a difficult fixture against St Marys/Mt Druitt. Despite a close defeat, they never gave up and finished the game strongly. The boys then went on to win their next three consecutive pool games which resulted in them earning a spot in the semi-finals. Every game the boys played, they became more confident and displayed admirable sportsmanship. They identified each other’s strengths and used this to play excellent team basketball. This continued in the semi-final, where the boys defeated a strong Penrith side who were undefeated until this point of the championships. In the final the boys started strong, gaining an early lead against St Marys/Mt Druitt. However, the opposition were resilient despite the boys giving it everything that they had and St Marys/Mt Druitt were able to win the game in the final moments. The boys should be incredibly proud of their teamwork and effort throughout the day, which resulted in them finishing second in the Sydney West PSSA Basketball Championships. Well done boys!
