2025 Sydney West Touch Football Championships

Last Thursday, 12 June, both the boys and girls touch football teams represented Castle Hill PSSA at the Sydney West Touch Football Championships. All students are to be commended for their exemplary behaviour on the day.
Boys
A chilly morning didn’t slow us down, starting strong with a 6–0 win over Seven Hills/Wentworthville. The team carried this momentum into their next match, securing another impressive 4–0 victory against Ridges.

Next, the boys took on the combined zone team of Merrylands/Auburn/Parramatta. In a dominant and well-coordinated performance, Castle Hill came away with a commanding 9–1 win. The final pool game against Mt Druitt was a true nailbiter, with the lead changing three times. Showing great resilience and teamwork, the boys held on for a 5–4 win, finishing top of their pool and booking a place in the semi-finals.

The semi-final against St Mary’s showcased the team’s consistency and strength, earning them a well-deserved spot in the grand final.

Up against a strong Blue Mountains side, the first 15 minutes were tight, but the Castle Hill boys stepped up when it mattered most, sealing the championship win with a 5–3 scoreline.

We are so proud to announce that Castle Hill Boys are the 2025 Sydney West Champions!

Congratulations to the entire team on this fantastic achievement.

We also extend a special congratulations to the following players who were selected to represent Sydney West at the NSWPSSA State Championships in Dubbo.

Girls
The girls were placed against a tough St Mary’s side in their first game. In cold conditions, we grew comfortable with moving the ball quick and ended up 2-1 winners.  After several warm ups, the girls played Seven Hills/Wenty in Round 2.  Within the first few minutes, we conceded a try which turned up the motivation to secure a come back win. The girls won 2-1 again, moving us up the leaderboard. A bye was next, allowing a much needed break and a revisit in the tactics heading into the next match against a fast Ridges side. Tries on either side of the half time break ended the game in a 2-2 draw.
Finally, Castle Hill played Penrith, who were favourites to progress into the finals. The girls went down with pride to a fantastic Penrith side, allowing the bench to rotate quickly and players in the middle to take longer breaks due to fatigue. A real good effort from a young squad. All girls should be proud of their achievements!
